Just checked out the gastronomy in Terracina. If you get a chance, have the seafood spaghetti some time – and give it a score. Should be the new benchmark.

G’day, FYI Russel van Hout won the Glenelg Crit with Matt Rex a close second. Alex Rhodes won the women’s event with plenty to spare. Saw her on TV, classy interview.
Checked out the Tassie Carnival results, Jack Bobridge came a close second in the first day scratch race but havn’t seen Rhodsey in the placings yet. Both Meyer’s are putting it to the older guys with some really impressive results. very strong.

Gday mate just thought I’d say good luck – I remember pushing the pace on a frickin cold winter morning thru the hills with ya earlier this year and you couldn’t contain the excitement of the ’secret’ trip! Well it’s happening! Fire up mate catch ya when you get back

Hi Chris, not a lot happening here, as usual the break between Christmas and New Year is pretty quiet. Luckily the weather hasn’t been too hot, but the prediction for the next few days is getting hotter with 40 degrees for Thursday. Tomorrow we are off to D&A’s for New Year, should be good. Might even take a late night swim. Myers’ still going strong in Tassie, Tom Robinson won one of the big handicaps and collected the cash. Bit of controversy about the handicapper – someone is always going to be unhappy. Took the chainring back to Shaun Hennesey – stacks of people in the shop. Sidi’s still havn’t arrived. Still havn’t heard about your waitlisted flight. Will follow up when I go back to work.
Ciao, Dad

Spoke to Alexander in Sweden, he sends his New Year Greetings. Just back from Copenhagen for a couple of days. Still hasn’t snowed in Uppsala yet – evidently it is the warmest start to winter on record.
Sounds like you are going well and getting in some really good training – very lucky to have top coaching every day and good people to stay with. Has the Team decided when it will start racing and when you will need to go back yet?
Wouldn’t worry too much about not doing the specific track training – whatever happens at State’s will happen and although the others will be sharper, the opportunity you have is pricless.
Tough about the pictures but not to worry.
Ciao, Say Hi to Sylvana and Pierreluigi andHappy New Year!

Is the Valerio Agnoli you mentioned the same guy who rides for Naturino-Sapore Di Mare? He has ridden in the Milan – San Remo and has Casagrande in his team. Come s from Fiuggi (spose you know all this if it is him)

Second week of training after the new year holiday started yesterday.
Christos is doing extremely well, he is very determined and focused on his cycling. He has been the only junior rider to stay on the pro Agnoli’s wheel on the climbs and doesn’t hesitate to try and leave him behind.
Today they will be working on force, and tomorrow he along with Agnoli will be doing some longer and steeper climbs.
Christos is an extrordinary young man, and it has been such a joy for me having him with us, as for the team. Everyone just adores him, especially the team manager and the trainer Pierluigi. Christos was worried about being the new guy from far away and felt that he was invading their turf…….well it’s been opposite of that. The racers look up to him, and love his stlye!!!
I know at times it can be hard for him, not with the cycling but being far from home, his family and friends. I don’t know how many people at his young age would have made a decision like his, it goes to show how much he cares about cycling and how many sacrifices he is willy to make for his passion for cycling.
As for me, I just adore him!!!!!! I tend to have a very maternal instinct with him, always asking if he’s ok or needs anything…….
Martin, I, we would like to thank you, your wife and your wonderful son for the opportunity that you have given US!!!!
He leaves on the 7th but i miss him already…….

Today was Christos last day in Italy, it was actually quite sad for me to see him go. I didn’t cry at the airport only because we made the good-byes quick, but I have to admit my eyes got a bit watery……
He was the last one to embark at cut in real close, very bad Italian Airport organization.
As for yesterday his last day at the winter camp, he did real good on the climbs, the second was about 6km hitting an average of 12% some spots hit 15%….he’ll tell you the rest…hahahahahah
Then at 5pm our local time he said good-bye to his fellow cyclists. They were all quite sad to see him go, lots of hugs and kisses (us italians are quite affectionate). There were some speeches on his behalf and the team president, quite emotional i must say, but there was still plenty of time to joke around. As we drove away from the camp the riders all stood infront of the van pretending to cry and wiping their tears, was realy quite funny.
Now it is 2:52 pm local time we are back at home and it feels a little empty without him here. When i went into the room where he was sleeping, i was actually hoping to still find him there.
On our ride back from the airport my husband and i talked about thim the whole time, and had nothing but good things to say about him, as a cyclist and as a young man. My husband sees alot of potential in him, and said that if he could have stayed a little longer he would make him the strongest climber on our team, because he has the guts and the whit to be the best, because he believes in himself and is willing to make the sacrifice for bettering himself.
So now we will ce counting the days to when he will be back again, in the meantime, i hold the memories, which are all very fond ones, will enjoy looking at the pictures and videos we took, so it’s just like he were here.
Miss you already kiddò!!!!!

thanks so much for having Christos and all the time you spent with him. unfortunately he didn’t get on the first flight, although trying extremely hard and now has to stay a couple of days in Malaysia which he wasn’t happy about.
Maybe it will be a good chance for a bit of a rest.
He had the best time with you all in Italy and especially appreciated the way you, Silvana cared for him.
Thank you again,
Regards,
Merrilee

He is a wonderful young man!!!
Sorry to hear about the flight delay, Martin said it would have been hard to get on any earlier flights.
Have him give me a shout or e-mail when he arrives, you know our maternal instincts, i worry….
My best to all
